Romania. Poiana Tapului. Urlatoarea waterfall. Bucegi NP

Urlătoarea waterfall is a waterfall formed by the Urlătoarea stream, near the city of Busteni, Romania, located at an altitude of 1100 m, near the tourist route that leads from Busteni to the Bucegi plateau in the Jepilor valley. It can also be reached from Poiana Țapului.

In addition to the main waterfall (15 meters), there are other smaller waterfalls, a few tens of meters higher, in the two streams, the Great Howler and the Little Howler.

From Busteni, in the Prahova Valley, we are going to visit one of the best-known waterfalls in the area, the Urlatoarea Waterfall “La Cascada que Grita”.

We take the route that leaves from Poiana Țapului. The route is suitable for all audiences, but it does have a certain degree of physical demand, both due to the steepness of some of the ramps and the presence of fallen tree trunks along the way.

The steepest ramps are found at the beginning of the section, where the road is wide, with ramps suitable for the passage of mountain vehicles. Soon the road turns into a trail.

After about 20 minutes of gentle but continuous ascent, from here we will have small sections of ups and downs. The greatest effort is supposed to avoid the logs that invade the trail: some jump over it, others go under it. Since it has rained recently, you also have to deal with the mud and choose where to put your feet.

We arrived at the foot of the waterfall. They are two waterfalls about 15 meters high that go down in parallel. .

For the return we redo the outward route, which means that the last part of it is now easier, since it is time to go down instead of up.
