Rossberg Roundtour

Why worthwhile? With good weather, beautiful view into the deep Salzbach-valleys.

Starting point: From Neukirchen driving towards Wald und Krimml, we have to pay attention to a bus stop with directly behind it a street to the right (big wooden board Rossberg, Venediger Hof etc). At the end of this straight up going road (at a t-section) we can park the car right (or in the neighbourhood). [Neukirchen 856m. – Oberpinzgau – Pingzau].

Total time: 1 - 1½ hours.

Details: Short trip over concrete roads and one part through the woods over a forest path.

Route description:

From the parking lot we walk in the western direction over a small bridge (following big sign Venediger Hof, Abelhof). We walk upwards on the concrete road Rossbergweg, past house number nr. 88 (Venedigerblick). At a fork in the concrete road we go straight on. The road that comes from the right is the way back. We pass the houses numbered 39 and 38. At house number 32 the road makes an S-turn upward.

Than we walk further on the road and come to a Y-fork where one road goes left, down the mountain (signs Wald im Pinzgau, Plankenhof) and one road goes right, upward (signs Venedigerhof). We go right here up the mountain, after a few tens of metres keeping to the right past a house and than right in to the woods upward via a very visible path. Also one sees some red marked poles here and there. Passing a gate we reach the concrete road again.

Here we go left for a moment (west) and than to the right towards Venediger Hof which is visible from this point. Past this gasthof we descend again. At house number 34, right down and than left again towards Neukirchen. While we keep descending we reach Abelhof and he fork in the road that connects to our outward road. From here we walk the same way back to the parking lot.
