Itinerary description
This route will take you around the two most famous pyramids in Dahshur, 30 km south of Cairo.
Not many people visit here so if you come off season you will encounter few if any hagglers.
If you feel like it you can enter both pyramids (leave 20 LE tips for the caretaker). Inside you have to climb 60 and 100 metets in a narrow passage. Not for the claustrofobic. The short walk between the two pyramids is spectacular. If you skip the road and walk directly through the dessert you will feel like an explorer as most of the time you will see nothing but dessert, sky and the pyramid in front of you. To the north you can see the Djoser pyramid and the skyline of Cairo in the distance. To the east is the Nile and date plantations. To the east barbed wire fences in an army area.
