Cavtat is a small town that is located just 20 kilometers from Dubrovnic. The ancient Greeks called it Epidaurus. We can access it by road or by sea. We have chosen to use the sea. We have taken a small boat that departs from the Old Port of Dubrovnik and brings us closer to it. It is a ship with departures every half hour that communicates both cities on a regular basis.
Once we arrive at the port of Cavtat, located in a bay that guards the peninsulas of Jepan and Rat as a horseshoe, we disembark and begin our walk for it we go to the peninsula of Rat to visit first the Franciscan Monastery in full port and its Church, from there we ascend to see the Mausoleum of the Racic Family where splendid views await us.
Later we descend and continue bordering the Rat peninsula by a path in the shade of the pines where we will find numerous coves to bathe in and four beaches equipped to do so. Again the blue water of the Adriatico surrounds us and swimming and diving, seeing numerous fish next to you, becomes a delight.
We cross the peninsula of Rat and we go to the other peninsula of Sust Jepan a path allows us to border it among large pines that give us shade for much of the journey. The ascent leaves us breathtaking views and the sunset that awaits us is spectacular. We continue and now we enter the interior of the peninsula to visit some ancient Greek ruins that sit at the foot of a large hotel complex. Once we find the ruins that have no indication or explanatory sign we return to the port to take the boat back and return to Dubrovnik. A sunset of the movie accompany us until the sun falls behind the walls and we are no longer able to see it.
Enjoy the route as we have done.
