Itinerary description
Com este trilho conseguimos sentir a tranquilidade de uma caminhada pela floresta a poucos minutos da vila de Carcavelos e da praia de Carcavelos.
A forest walk around the Quinta dos Ingleses starting at the unpaved car park on Avenida Jorge V in Carcavelos, passing through a 19th century cement bridge, a forest with old remains of the British submarine cable company and returning to the starting point.
On this trail we can feel the tranquility of a walk through the forest just a few minutes from the village of Carcavelos and Carcavelos beach.

Início / Start
Entrando no parque de estacionamento, seguir por um dos caminhos em direção a nascente, paralelo ao mar do lado direito e à escola do lado esquerdo, até chegar a uma ponte de cimento. Entering the car park, follow one of the paths towards the east, parallel to the sea on your right and the school on your left, until you reach a cement bridge.

Ponte do século XIX sobre a ribeira de Sassoeiros / 19th-century bridge over the Sassoeiros stream
Esta ponte tem uma passagem em cimento, com ligeira elevação, mas nas laterais observa-se o trabalhado de pedra antiga. À frente da ponte vê-se uma encruzilhada e o pinhal à direita. Passando esta ponte, prosseguir à esquerda, paralelo ao campo de jogos da escola. This bridge has a cement walkway, with a slight elevation, but on the sides you can see the old stonework. In front of the bridge you can see a crossroads and the pine forest on your right. After crossing this bridge, continue to the left, parallel to the school's playground.

Esta é a zona do trilho que implica mais esforço, com uma subida um pouco íngreme. No topo da subida, avançar um pouco e seguir para o lado direito. This is the part of the trail that requires more effort, with a slightly steeper hill. At the top of the hill, continue forward a short while and then head to the right.

Antiga torre de depósito de água / Old water tank tower
A torre fica do lado esquerdo do trilho. A partir da torre, prosseguir pelo caminho de pedra em direção ao pinhal, onde se pode encontrar entre os arbustos um pequeno reservatório de combustível antigo, feito de metal, e mais à frente as casas em ruínas. The old water tank tower is on the left side of the track. From the tower, continue along the ancient stone path towards the pine forest, where you can find an old, small metal fuel tank amongst the bushes, and further on, the houses in ruins.

Antigas casas dos funcionários da empresa de cabos submarinos / Former houses of the employees of the submarine cable company
As casas ficam do lado esquerdo do trilho. Chegando à segunda casa, pode prosseguir-se em frente para o parque de estacionamento da praia (há um túnel que dá acesso ao areal), mas para voltar ao ponto de partida é preciso atravessar o pinhal, descendo por um trilho, até chegar à encruzilhada perto da ponte de cimento. De seguida é só refazer o percurso até ao ponto de partida. The houses are on the left side of the trail. Arriving at the second house, it is possible to continue straight ahead to reach the beach parking area (there is a tunnel that gives access to the beach), but to return to the starting point you have to cross the pine forest, going down a path, until you reach the crossroads near the cement bridge. Then just retrace the route to the starting point.
