Short and pleasant walk along the beautiful and wide beach of Kuta, south of the island of Lombok, in the Indonesian archipelago. It is a lonely bay that shows its maximum splendor when it is at low tide, which is when a much larger area is bare when the water retreats. We returned the next day when the tide rose and the beach looked like a totally different one. There are usually a lot of local people on the beach and it is not unusual to find a stranger like us. The atmosphere of the locals is very relaxed and friendly, as in most of the not-yet-too-crowded beaches of this beautiful and varied archipelago of Oceania. It is a delight to wander aimlessly and climb the rock in the middle of the bay to contemplate the sunset without haste, or approach the mangrove area at one end of the beach.
