Itinerary description
Very good gravel road to Sv. Ilija trailhead. Some of its segments are a real pleasure to walk (smooth, soft surface of dirt and grass, and enough shade from the surrounding greenery), but mostly it's gravel and crushed stones, and exposed to the sun. It ascends gradually enouh to be doable even by someone not in top shape. Once you reach the large, gravel plateau at the end of the road, serving also as an ersatz helicopter landing (Pišćet, 449 meters, is the rocky outcrop at the right), you can turn around and go back the same way you came up. But if you feel strong and in need of more exercise (and you have enough daylight time left), you can go quite a bit further, and end up on the top of Sv. Ilija, the highest peak in Pelješac (961 meters). But the first part of this extra trail is immediately much more serious than anything up to this point (moderate, at least), and appropriate shoes and decent fitness are a must here; in hotter days some extra water and head protection (think UPF50+) wouldn't be amiss, either.
