Itinerary description

The Pinseskoven is an area of birch forest. What makes this distinctive is that:

"Special permission has been given to allow Pinseskoven to grow freely without human interference, so the trees are closer to each other than is usual in planted Danish forests. It’s a wild forest, yet close to the capital."

You notice this immediately when you leave the birch forest and enter some of the adjoining (managed) forest and realise that there are straight rows of trees.

We saw two large buck deer, with large antlers, in the forest and close range. They left quickly when they realised we were there.

If is quite a walk across the common to get from the main nature centre entrance to the forest.

Note: Copenhagen is the European Green Capital 2014. Copenhagen Green is a guide to 100 green locations in greater Copenhagen. It is a great source for things to see and do in Copenhagen. See www.copenhagengreen.dk for all the information on the locations. There is a large format book, small guide books and also an ebook that contains information for all the locations.
