Coc Ly market in Lao Cai in Vietnam, travel to Sapa area of Vietnam
One of the most beautiful markets in Sapa and Lao cai area in Northern Vietnam is Coc Ly market which is held every Tuesday, the best time to visit is from 9am till noon. the market is the ideal place to meet the local ethnic groups, and then admire the enchanting landscapes of North Vietnam by traveling by boat on the Chay river.
There is no public bus to reach the market. You must hire a private car or moped from Lao Cai or Sapa. If you start from Sapa, it takes around 2 and a half hours to get to Cocíly market.
Coc Ly Market is located on the bank of Chay River which originates from China and enters Muong Khuong in Vietnam. A dam was recently built right in the vicinity of the market. The Hmong, a local ethnic group, come to the market to sell and buy products. They sell buffaloes, roosters, pigs, and dogs to have money to spend on farm implements and household utensils. They wear beautiful brightly colored clothes as if they were going to a ceremony and eat and drink at the market.
It is also recommended to arrange a boat trip from the market up to Bao Nhai where it meets the main road. This Chay river trip is very scenic, lovely mountain scenery, rice fields, waterfalls, forests etc. where the river flows amidst steep limestone rocks, amidst the greenery of North Vietnamese forests.
Vietnamviaggiarte.com can help you book the boat which costs about 30 US dollars for a boat of 4 people. So it costs about 8 dollars each.

Piccolo mercato rurale dove ancora avviene anche il baratto. Non adatto a schizzinosi e animalisti. Si macellano carni all'aria aperta e si vendono animali stipati in strette gabbie. Molto suggestivo.
