Itinerary description
The walk has a 200 meter level difference and is not sign-posted.
The origin of the name "Puy Richard" comes from the word 'loup cervier', which means lynx. These felines did roam these forests until 1900 when the last one was shot. In the 1970 the forest of Puy Richard was heavily de-forested. The National Forest Commision started a program to plant 'Pin Noir d'Autriche', which could sustain on this eroded terrain.
This walk is taken from "52 balades en famille autour de Gap" by Jean-Marc Roux, Ed. Didier Richard, 1997; ISBN 2-7038-0198-X
