Itinerary description
Au Sikkim, toujours se lever tôt car les paysages se bouchent rapidement.
Il y a deux villes dans l'extrême nord du Sikkim, dans deux vallées quasiment parallèles, au bout du monde: Lachen et Lachung. Les routes au Sikkim sont mauvaises et elles sont très mauvaises au nord Sikkim. Ceci a un certain charme, mais on n'avance pas. Dans ces conditions, la vallée de Lachen et de Chopta montre bien les vallées himalayennes entre 2000 et 4000 mètres, mais en octobre c'est peu passionnant et fort gris. L'ouverture à Chopta est sympa, mais c'est fort loin pour peu de chose. Avec les routes en plus, la vallée de Lachen ne vaut pas le détour, sauf sans doute au printemps avec les fleurs.
Pour Lachung, Yumthang et zero point, c'est fort différent. La route entre Lachung et zero point est bonne, surprenante et la vallée, même en novembre, est fort belle, très typique. A Yumthang, il y a moyen de se promener et les vues sont belles. Zero point a quelque chose de spécial et on peut faire une ballade de plusieurs heures.
Lachung n'a rien de spécial, et une fois de plus il faut s'y promener tôt le matin si vous voulez voir quelque chose.
Toute cette région doit être très belle au printemps.
In Sikkim, one has to start very early because the clouds are there by 10 am if not before.
There are two "major" towns up north, Lachen and Lachung. Roads are bad in Sikkim, but they are worst after Lachen. This is perhaps fun, but quite slow and a pain. So Lachen and chopta valley are quite"far" and greyish in november. It Is perhaps nicer by spring time with the flowers. The opening in the Chopta valley is quite nice, but is not worth the time and trip.
For Lachung, Yumthang valley and zero point, it is different. The road between Lachung and zero point is good and nice and typical even in november.The Yumthang valley is nice and it is possible to walk around. Zero point is a special place if the weather is clear and it is possible to make nice walks around if it is ok with your taxi.
Lachung is just a village and you have to be up early to see anything.
We did our tour of Sikkim with Hiddenparadise adventure trek and were very happy.
