We start near the Triton Fountain. We passed the city gate and entered the historic center of Valletta.
We walk along the pedestrian street Triq Ir-Repubblika (street of the Republic) until the Auberge de Castille, built by the Order of St. John, is now the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malta. We went to Fort Elmo and the lower and upper gardens of Barracca.
Valletta has buildings dating from the sixteenth century built during the time of the Hospitaller Knights. Most of its buildings are Baroque, with elements of the Renaissance, Neoclassical and Modern architecture in some areas since the Second World War caused much damage in the city. It is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.
