Interesting visit to part of the historic center of the important city of Esfahan, beginning the visit in the Armenian Quarter and then approaching the Zayandeh riverbed (it only carries water in the rainy season, the rest of the time it is a dry riverbed) to cross it later by the beautiful bridge of Si-o-se-Pol.

I copy and paste what Wikipedia says about this beautiful city full of history:

"Isfahán or Ispahán[1][2](Persian: اصفهان, tr.: Esfahān, Persian pronunciation: About this sound /esfæˈhɒːn/ (? i)) is a major Iranian city, capital of the province of Isfahan Located 406 kilometers south of Tehran, Isfahan has a population of about 2 million people,[3] making it the third largest city in Iran after Tehran and Mashhad, although it once It was one of the largest cities in the world.

Isfahan is an important city, as it is located at the intersection of the two main north-south and east-west routes through Iran. Isfahan flourished between 1050 and 1722, particularly in the 16th and 17th centuries under the Safavid dynasty, during which time it became the capital of Persia for the second time in its history during the reign of Shah Abbas the Great. Even today, the city retains much of its past glory.

It is famous for its Perso-Islamic architecture, grand boulevards, covered bridges, palaces, tiled mosques and minarets. Isfahan also has many historical buildings, monuments, paintings and items. Isfahán's fame resulted in the Persian proverb "Esfahān nesf-e-jahān ast": Isfahán is half the world.[4]

Isfahan is located in the wide valley of the Zayandeh River, at the transition between the Zagros Mountains and the Iranian Plateau, at 1,590 meters above sea level. It has a temperate climate, with defined seasons; The temperature varies between 2°C and 28°C —with a registered maximum of 42°C and a historical minimum of −19°C— and has an average of 355 mm of rainfall per year.

The Naghsh-i Jahan square, as well as the Great Mosque of Isfahan, were declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, a classification that also has the Chehel Sotun palace as part of the Persian garden tradition. The city also has a wide variety of sites built between the 11th and 19th centuries, where you can appreciate the Islamic architecture of the Safavid Empire.

They embellish the city and some buildings from the period still remain: in addition to the Friday Mosque, one can mention the tombs of Malik Shah and Nizam al-Mulk and the Ali, Sarban, Paminar, Ziyar and Forty Daughters minarets.

Isfahan was taken by the Mongol Empire around 1244, but it was not destroyed; it maintained its importance and its economic activity while maintaining the status of regional capital.[16] In 1387, the Isfahan massacre carried out by Tamerlane occurred. The latter, during his conquests, met with resistance from the city, which rebelled and refused to pay the tribute he wanted to impose. In retaliation, he ordered his army to hand over the heads of 70,000 Isfahanis and built a column made of their skulls."
