Today, February 10, 2024 (the day the route was recorded) is Chinese New Year's Day. The year 2024 is celebrated in Chinese culture in the year 4722, the year of the dragon.
One Yokohama Chinatown activity is to look for all the Chinese New Year lanterns.
Chinese New Year lanterns are spectacular sculptures in the shape of characters from Chinese mythology, such as dragons, cranes, carp, wise men, monkeys...
They measure between 2 and 5 meters high and are very colorful even during the day, when they are not illuminated. The lighting of these lanterns begins around 4:00 p.m. As if it were a gymkhana, we could see the location of the sculptures on a map with this link:
https://platinumaps.jp/d/yokohama/sr725?sr=725
Apparently you can download the app on certain phones, but not on mine, so we were looking at a simplified version of the map that is accessed from the Yokohama Chinatown website ( https://www.chinatown.or.jp / )
By finding the sculptures you will obtain digital stamps, which can then be exchanged as discount coupons or lottery tickets. They can be searched in any order you want.
Below is the translation of the activity sheet uploaded to the official Yokohama Chinatown website:
In China, the Lunar New Year is called Spring Festival and there is a custom to celebrate it grandly. Yokohama's Chinatown has also held a Spring Festival party since 1986. It has now become a winter tradition in Yokohama. Starting in 2022, we will celebrate a double Spring Festival with the Yokohama Chinese New Year Festival, where Yokohama Chinatown and the local community will enjoy the Spring Festival together! There are also many events, such as a Chinese lion dance for prayer or a New Year's raffle.
Traditional Chinese lantern objects, each handmade by artisans, are colorful and soft illuminations. The small ones are approximately 2m tall and the large ones are 5m high and 9m wide, making them very impressive! In 2024, in addition to Yokohama Chinatown, it will expand to 32 locations mainly in the Yokohama Bay Area, and if you collect stamps, you will receive a prize. We will also hold a Chinese New Year digital stamp rally where you can win the Chinese New Year "Hong Pao Lottery" draw.

The recording was split into 2.
My wife and I did the first part (8km) together. The next day I did the highlight part (25km).
For some reason you can't use the internet on the second day, so I stopped scanning the codes for coupons, and just continued so I could see the sculptures.
You can see all of them except 3. One of them because it was abnormally far from the others (Haneda airport). Another 3 were theoretically inside the train stations but I went around everything and there was no way to see them. There was another one that I could only see through glass because it was inside a closed room. Another problem is that not having internet I had to do the entire route on a digital map that was not updated, so I couldn't zoom in on the map very much. Anyway, it was a very fun activity.
