Itinerary description
Helsingor is the part of Denmark that is closest to Sweden. As such it has a very busy ferry terminal, with ferries to Sweden and elsewhere.
Kronborg castle is situated with a commanding view of the water way - and it was used to enforce and collect the tolls that provided income to the crown. The castle is open for visits and while busy, you didn't feel overwhelmed by people.
Perhaps due to the ferry terminal, or perhaps for some other reason, this was the most crowded places in Denmark that we encountered.
The parking area is "Pay and Display" - make sure you do this. There was a person checking every vehicle in the parking area - and he was there all day...
I have marked the shop that roasts coffee on the premises - if you want a coffee this is the place to stop.
You can easily walk to the harbour, and into the town itself to visit the main shopping area.
