Güejar Sierra, por la vía del tranvía, Granada.

Fuimos en autobús a Guejar Sierra. La ruta escogida era desde el pueblo hasta donde empieza la ruta de la Vereda de la Estrella. Nos hubiera gustado hacer la ruta de la Vereda de la Estrella, pero un autobús no puede llegar a el empiece (coche si). La ruta que hicimos es muy bonita y es recomendable. Aparcamos en la explanada detrás del Hotel Mirasierra. Para llegar hasta donde empiece la ruta saliendo del parking camina hacia la derecha y luego a la izquierda, primero bajando por un camino de cemento que luego se convierte en un camino rural sobre el trazado del antiguo tranvía-ferrocarril desde Granada a Sierra Nevada. La ruta es fácil de seguir y la superficie es buena. Pasa por 5 o 6 túneles y dos puentes colgantes antes de llegar a las ruinas de las casas de los mineros y el mirador, que es el punto donde empieza la ruta de la Vereda de la Estrella. Aquí tomamos los bocadillos, y después decidimos continuar como media hora por la ruta de la Vereda. A la vuelta tomamos la carretera (de acceso por coche). Es una ruta interesante, con muchas variaciones de terrenos y vistas de las montañas y el Embalse de Canales, y acompañada todo el camino por el ruido agradable del rio Genil y los cánticos de los pájaros. Hay varios restaurantes en la ruta.

We went in our bus to Guejar Sierra. The route we selected was from the town to the start of the route to "la Vereda de la Estrella" (the stairway to the stars). We would have liked to do the Stairway but the road is not sufficiently wide for the bus to bring us to the start (it's OK for cars). The route we did is very nice and recommendable. We parked in the area behind the Hotel Mirasierra. To get to the start of the route you take the road to the right and then the left, firstly descending along a cement road which shortly becomes a path along the old tram-line from Granada to Sierra Nevada. The route is easy to follow and the surfaces is good. We went through 5 or 6 tunnels and over two hanging bridges before arriving at the ruins of the miners' houses and the viewing point, which is where the route to the Vereda starts. Here we had our lunch, and then decided to go another half hour along the Vereda walk. We returned along the roadway access to the starting point. It is an interesting route, with loads of variations in the landscape and the views of the mountains and the Canales Reservoir, accompanied all along the way by the pleasant sound of the river Genil and the birdsong. There are various Restaurants on the route.
