Today, as part of our trip to Hiroshima, my wife and I went to the island of Miyajima on a ferry from the river next to the atomic bomb dome.
The ferry trip takes about 40 minutes, half on the river and the other half on the sea.
Already in Miyajima we went to see the Sanctuary and its famous torii in the sea, which is completely exposed when the tide is low and half covered by the sea when the tide is high.
We went at high tide and we couldn't stay until it went down due to schedule issues. Anyway, we took beautiful photos of the torii. At the sanctuary we stood in line and bought the sanctuary's seal book so that they would sign it for us at this and many other sanctuaries that we visit in the future.
In Miyajima, as I mentioned in another route about Hiroshima, there were several restaurant options with gluten-free and/or vegan meals.
We also enjoyed seeing the deer that lived freely on the island and pestered tourists for food. They also sometimes entered stores. They are so used to people that they don't run away from anything or attack anyone. There were many of them and they were very funny and adorable.
Miyajima Island was bigger than I expected. There are people who decide to spend the night and do hiking and other activities. We couldn't and yet we were surprised to see that so many people live there. There is even a school.
On the way back we walked the streets of Hiroshima and went to see some parks. We returned to the hotel when we saw that it was starting to rain, but it gave us time to really enjoy the trip.

Una isla muy bonita para pasar el día. Acostumbrado a la típica foto del Torii, las tuyas, con su entorno, son fabulosas, sobre todo la del santuario con el Torii
