Jerash or Gerasa, known as the ancient "Antioch on the Golden River" located on the banks of the Wadi River Jerash was a Roman stronghold. The history of the tourist site has its roots in the first Greek colonization, after the conquest by Alexander the Great. After the Nabataean domination, Hadrian rebuilt it. You can visit the very well preserved ruins of Hadrian's Arch, the Temple of Artemis and the Roman Forum, the Baths, the Temple of Zeus and the Hippodrome.
