Itinerary description
Easy one way walk on the two main islands in the Nile in Cairo. From the AD 861 Nilometer on the southern tip of Rhoda Island to central Zamalek. It is a very urban but varied walk crossing the Nile twice. Rhoda is peaceful city life without the tourists and offers plenty of local colour and an interesting unspoiled local Market. As you leave Rhoda Island for Giza it becomes more cosmopolitan as you pass embassies, exclusive clubs and official buildings.
