Banská Štiavnica, the oldest mining town in Slovakia, became one of the most important mining towns in Europe. and UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the most visited places in the country, with a large monumental complex of buildings.
The Banská Štiavnica Calvary is one of the most visited places, both by believers and agnostics. It is made up of 23 "paradas" or chapels, which reflect scenes from the life of Jesus. The city's mining families made donations, and at each of the stations you can see the coat of arms of each donor.
Unlike other Calvaries that have eleven stations, the one in Štiavnica has seventeen.
A route as simple as it is interesting.
