Itinerary description

Easy walk around the old salt pans and along the peninsular taking in the mosaic at the Basillica church and following the shoreline and returning back along the road back to the start

Waypoints

Start by the car park along where the tourist boats tout their cruises to Spinalonga

Follow the road hugging the coastline to the left through the many Tavernas

Continue through the pathway toward the road

Keep Left

Keep left and stay on this road pass all the buildings on your right

Turn right

Turn right and stay on footpath following the salt pans

Turn left and walk a short distance before another right turn and footpath

Pass Taverna

Keep going past this Taverna

Follow pathway

Keep right after taverna and through this small alleyway

Continue on

The sea will be on your right and the salt pans on your left as you head back to the peninsular road

Towards the road

Turn right

On the road keep right towards the bridge and windmills

Bridge over the small channel that links the bay to the sea If you wish to view the mosaic floor turn right after the bridge and head towards the taverna The mosaic is the remains of an early Christian Basilica Church

Turn left

By the tree where the boat is, turn left and in front is a fenced off ruin where the mosaic floor is displayed

Return to the road way

Retrace your steps back to the bridge, but turn right and follow the coast road

Turn right

Follow the road between the walls as it goes to the right by the trees

Stop

View, picnic or water stop. return allong the same road back but keep to the main road all the way back to the carpark
