The ship is docked in Aswan, this day we get up at 4:00 a.m., for two reasons, to avoid the hot hours and the number of people who go to Abu Simbel.
Abu Simbel is an archaeological site of interest consisting of two temples excavated directly into the rock, the temple of Ramses II and the temple of Nefertari.
Between 1964 and 1968 the entire complex of temples had to be relocated due to the construction of the Aswan Dam. To prevent the temples from being below the water level, an international team of engineers proceeded to cut the blocks of more than 20 tons each and move them to a higher level.
The Temple of Ramses II:
The facade of the temple is 33 m high and 38 m wide, four seated statues guard the access, each of them is about twenty meters high and are carved directly on the rock.
The Temple of Nefertari.
It is located to the north of the main temple and is dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Nefertari, the favorite wife of Ramses II.
The facade of this temple is decorated with six standing statues, four of which represent the pharaoh and two his wife.
The room contains scenes showing Ramesses and his wife offering sacrifices to the gods.
When we finish the visit back to the bus to return to Aswan.
At night we made a nocturnal visit to the Philae temple, as it is on an island we had to take a small boat, this time during the guided tour the history of this temple was heard with a light show on the walls of the temple.
