415. DUBROVNIK: PUERTOS Y CASCO ANTIGUO. (JUEGO DE TRONOS).PORTS AND OLD TOWN. (GAME OF THRONES).

Dubrovnik es una ciudad espectacular y única por su belleza y por su historia. Situada en una de las partes más bellas del Adriático, ha conservado prácticamente intacto su casco antiguo. Este representa una mínima parte de toda la ciudad, pero es con diferencia lo más fotografiado. El visitante de la ciudad la encontrará atestada de turistas, ello se debe tanto a los veraneantes de sol y playa, como a los cruceros que diariamente recalan en su puerto como a la serie Juego de Tronos. Y es que aquí tuvo lugar la mayor parte del rodaje, lo que atrae a seguidores de todas partes del mundo para ver los escenarios en que fueron rodados.
Nuestra ruta comprende la unión entre el puerto actual, de Ferris y Cruceros al puerto tradicional en los límites de la ciudad. Antes de ello unas líneas sobre su historia.
Dubrovnik tiene su origen en los griegos que, huyendo de las invasiones de otros pueblos, se fueron asentando en la costa adriática. En el siglo IX ya era una importante ciudad, pasando a ser dominada primero por Bizancio y luego por Venecia, hasta 1358, cuando la República de Ragusa es independiente. En 1377, ante la peste negra, el gobierno de Ragusa impuso la primera cuarentena moderna del mundo. En esta época tiene sus años de esplendor, volcada en el comercio y rivalizando con Venecia en riqueza y con Florencia en cultura, conociéndose como la "Atenas dálmata".
La independencia finaliza el 31 de enero de 1808, decretada por Napoleón, pasando siete años después al Imperio Austrohúngaro, y en 1929 a formar parte de Yugoslavia. La última etapa viene por la independencia de Croacia en 1991, consolidada tras una terrible guerra. En 1979, la ciudad antigua fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco.
Vamos a la ruta. Partimos del Puerto nuevo, hacia la ciudad amurallada, a través de una arbolada carretera, que al poco nos permite tener vistas a la costa. Así llegamos a la puerta de Pile, entrada de la ciudad. Aquí emprendemos una ruta circular a través de su calle principal y sus murallas. Llamamos la atención sobre algunos (nos quedan otros fuera) de los monumentos que vamos a ver:
Iglesia de San Ignacio, también llamado Collegium Ragusinum, fundado por la Compañía de Jesús. Allí en las cercanías están las escalinatas en las que se rodó la escena de Juego de Tronos, la “escalera de la vergüenza”.
Catedral de la Asunción. Construida en 1713 en substitución de otro templo anterior de estilo románico destruido durante el terremoto de 1667 que afectó a casi todos los edificios de la ciudad. De estilo barroco, destaca por su cúpula, los altares principales y el Tesoro, donde se encuentran diferentes objetos de valor, incluyendo las reliquias de San Blas.

Aljibe: También omnipresente en las imágenes de la ciudad. Su agua se sigue utilizando en la actualidad.
La ruta finaliza en el Puerto antiguo, otro de los alicientes de la ciudad. En el tiempo de la hora y media que hemos empleado habremos obtenido una visión general de la ciudad y sus entornos. Aunque, todavía quedará mucho por ver, a lo que animamos a todos sus visitantes.

Dubrovnik is a spectacular and unique city for its beauty and its history. Located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Adriatic, it has preserved its old town practically intact. This represents a small part of the entire city, but it is by far the most photographed. The visitor to the city will find it crowded with tourists, this is due both to sun and beach vacationers, as well as to the cruise ships that call at its port daily, as well as to the Game of Thrones series. And it is here that most of the filming took place, which attracts fans from all over the world to see the scenarios in which they were shot.
Our route includes the union between the current port, from Ferries and Cruises to the traditional port in the limits of the city. Before that, a few lines about its history.
Dubrovnik has its origin in the Greeks who, fleeing from the invasions of other peoples, settled on the Adriatic coast. In the 9th century it was already an important city, coming to be dominated first by Byzantium and then by Venice, until 1358, when the Republic of Ragusa became independent. In 1377, in the face of the Black Death, the Ragusa government imposed the first modern quarantine in the world. At this time it has its years of splendor, focused on trade and rivaling Venice in wealth and Florence in culture, known as the "Dalmatian Athens".
Independence ends on January 31, 1808, decreed by Napoleon, passing seven years later to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and in 1929 to become part of Yugoslavia. The last stage comes with the independence of Croatia in 1991, consolidated after a terrible war. In 1979, the old city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Let's hit the road. We leave the new port, towards the walled city, through a tree-lined road, which soon allows us to have views of the coast. Thus we arrive at the Pile gate, the entrance to the city. Here we undertake a circular route through its main street and its walls. We draw attention to some (others are left out) of the monuments that we are going to see:
Church of San Ignacio, also called Collegium Ragusinum, founded by the Society of Jesus. Nearby there are the steps on which the Game of Thrones scene was filmed, the "staircase of shame".
Assumption Cathedral. Built in 1713 to replace another earlier Romanesque-style temple destroyed during the 1667 earthquake that affected almost all the buildings in the city. Of baroque style, it stands out for its dome, the main altars and the Treasury, where different valuable objects are found, including the relics of San Blas.
