Recorded route from when we boarded in Dubrovnik until we disembarked on the island of Lopud in the Elafiti archipelago in which the first section is by boat and the second includes a visit to some hermitages and representative monuments.
Lopud Island, one of the Elaphiti Islands, has about 220 inhabitants and is located northwest of the city of Dubrovnik. No other Croatian island contains so many sacred and historical monuments in such a small space. In Lopud there are 33 chapels, 4 churches, 2 monasteries, the remains of the Rector's palace, the Spanish fortress and the local museum. Which testifies to the rich history and the special importance of the island within the framework of the famous Ragusea Republic.
Lopud, which was the summer capital of the Ragus nobles, as witnessed by the many palaces that are still preserved. Today, Lopud is an oasis of peace: with sandy beaches, paths, paths, promenades and parks, from which, instead of the noise of cars, comes the song of cicadas. Just 7 miles away from the medieval city of Dubrovnik, it is the central island of the Elafiti archipelago, with fertile Mediterranean vegetation and a clean, crystalline blue sea. Lopud has become a tourist destination thanks to the rich evergreen vegetation, mild Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, as well as splendid swimming areas. The place itself is situated in the middle of a wide bay with a spacious pebble beach. The stone houses are surrounded by palm trees, cypresses, citrus trees and thriving subtropical plants. The enchanting Sunj beach with its reddish sand and always calm sea, the colors from brilliant yellow to gold to navy blue, will make this visit unforgettable.
