Itinerary description
Big long line made by app , certainly I didn't fly thru the harbor.
Interesting place, very nice shore line and very easy walking route.
Cyclops Cave is located on the east coast of Cyprus between Ayia Napa and Protaras and within the National Park area of Kavo Greko (also known as Cape Greco)
You can walk to the natural cave from Konnos Bay, many travel guides say the path is suitable for all abilities but care should be taken with children as the winding paths are uneven and often close to the cliff edge, there are signs along the route which warn of fall danger.
It is worth the walk, however, and adds to the excitement of the discovery once you reach the cave!
The cave is claimed to have been a hideout of the infamous Cyclop, a one-eyed giant who trapped Ulysses and his men, as they struggled to return from Troy to Ithaca, in Homer’s book, The Odyssey.
There are stunning views to enjoy as you approach along the cliff path...
Konnos Bay walk to Cyclops Cave
The path forms part of the European Long Distance Trail, E4 which runs from Cyprus to Gibralter. From Konnos Bay to the cave is approximately 2km.
Once you reach the cave it is signposted and there is a small picnic area, and an easy few natural steps down to the cave.
Cyclops Cave, Protaras
The cave is plenty big enough for adults to enter and stand in places,
For those who prefer not to take the cliff path from Konnos, it is possible to drive directly to the picnic area above the Cyclops Cave.
