Itinerary description
The southwest corner of the recording is skewed. I paused the track where the loop overlaps the Coyote Loop in an attempt to replicate the published trail map. However, not only did it connect the dots, but somehow thought I had gone way off trail.
Waypoints
Trail Marker
The loop starts/ends at the intersection of Jackrabbit Loop at its northernmost point.
Rest area
The structure provides a little bit of shade over the bench and information kiosks that overlook a camping area.
Whispering Ben Trail
There is a bench and a trail marker where the 0.1-mile Whispering Ben Trail offshoot leads to mortars.
Fence
The trail passes through what appears to be a remaining section of an old fence.
Trail Marker
The trail overlaps a section of the Coyote Loop. Turn left to complete the Bighorn Loop.
Trail Marker
Turn left to complete the Bighorn Loop and view the riparian habitat
Bench at Riparian Habitat
Sit a spell and enjoy the view of the pond that is home to the Corn Creek Pyrg - a small snail that is found nowhere else in the world. The information kiosk also explains how the pond's design keeps out crayfish.
