Itinerary description
Started from Museum Church Ope car park to Church Ope Cove “a fishing and wreck-diving off a sheltered beach formerly used by smugglers, with church ruins above”. We saw tge Museum, Rufus Castle, down to the beach, up the cliffs to the under ground chamber, St Andrew’s Church ruins & cemetery with Pirates’ graves, Pennsylvania Castle and pitstop at Hayloft Cafe and Bar (alfresco quick lunch), then walk along the road back to Rufus Castle from where we took the footpath towards Grove. Saw rock climbers on the cliff edge, up the cliff where we came onto HMYOI (Her Majesty Young Offenders Institute), past Portland FC. My phone battery was very low so i had to stop recording my walk 1.05 km from where we park our car so I can save my walking trail. After saving thus trail, I continued recording and was so pleased i managed to record the last 1.05 km walk to the car park. Wished i had recorded the whole 6.88 km trail. Enjoyed the walk very much.
