An impressive engineering achievement, shows one positive aspect of the Japanese Occupation Plans for NE China. This track is only a small segment on the west end, a Map Photo suggests a much greater extent of the walking paths around the area.
West end of dam
There is a monument about Zhao Shangzhi, a leader of Mao's Red Army, who opposed the Japanese occupation, his head is buried somewhere in the forest nearby.
Green Pine Tower
The track ascends along small forest paths from the east end of the damsite. The open November forest is very accessible. The descending stairway was ice and snow covered in November and the Tower was closed for the winter.
