Itinerary description
Nice alternative to the main Cedar Valley that allows easy access to lots of grand old cedars. The end of South west ridge is nice place for picnic or sunset (or both).
Waypoints
Start of track
Turn off from the E740 road. No signpost so keep an eye out (even on satellite map the track start is hard to see). Location is marked accurately in WikiLoc.
Good track
The track is mostly level and in good condition. A 4x4 is not required. Track runs about 700m and there is room to park 2-3 cars at end.
Parking
Parking spot by 1st cedar grove. From here you can either head north to summit or south along cedar lines ridge. The views and sunset us best along the south ridge.
Track to summit
Trail heading to north summit from parking spot. About 250m to top. Steepish but easy trail.
Eksomylos 1249m
This is the sign by parking and 1st cedar grove. The actual height of this location is about 1210m so height on sign must refer to north summit.
Cedar saplings
Forestry dept is planting quite a few (tiny!) cedar saplings. Come back in 200 years to enjoy!
Cedar on summit
One of only 2 big cedar of north summit. So a bit disappointing. Not to worry, head back downhill and go along the south ridge.
From north summit back to E740
Looking north from summit back to E740. You can see a large swath of planted cedar stretching back to the road.
New cedar valley
Looking north from summit back to E740. Between summit and road is a large swath of planted cedar. This area is actually opposite the area marked as Cedar Valley nr. Stavros ‘tis Psokas.
Summit from side ridge
Summit is so-so. The long ridge below is better view and cedars.
Picnic stump
Sit down, drink some wine, relax. Just follow same route back to your car or to the E740.
