Itinerary description
This is a full day out assuming that you take time to explore Clovelly village on the way around. This is a really nice walk but it is a hilly one. Start from the small National Trust car park in Brownsham leaving a small donation for its upkeep. The outward leg of this walk head east to Clovelly, the first part of the walk will take you along a nice woodland path and eventually arrives above the famous Clovelly village at the church. Here you can pause and enjoy the fabulous coastal views. Before heading down into the village, take a few moments to look around the gift shop and say hello to the donkeys at the stable and maybe take a ride.
Head down the steep steps to the main street with its shops and tea rooms off each side, there's a pub at the top of the village and another right at the very bottom by the harbor or, grab a pastie and sit on the harborside wall.
When ready continue the walk along the coastal path, leaving the village from the back of the Red Lion following the signs for the Land Rover taxi. The return leg of the walk takes you along the coastal path to Blackchurch Rock. A steep path takes you down to the sea level but an equally steep uphill section quickly follows.
