The "Peaks of the Balkans" is a loop itinerary of about ten days between Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro.
It is a very beautiful route.
We present our "Peaks of the Peja", PP, because almost everywhere you can find PEJA beer to end the day. We modified certain steps and a posteriori, we find this combination not bad at all.
Some days are better than others but overall it's a great success. The homestays are all good, the hosts friendly and welcoming, but for food and picnics there is a lot of room for improvement.(2021) We didn't come for the catering, but it there are countries that are doing better. Now things are going very fast and it won't be the same trick in a few years.
We ended with three days in Montenegro on the coast between Kotor, Skadar and Petrovac: very good.
We started in Albania for air transfer reasons.
We visited Kruje, the Blue eye and Lake Komani but they are tourist traps that are not worth the detour they ask for even if it's not bad.
We were lucky with the weather, but be careful, thunderstorms can be violent.
It is well signposted, but you need a GPS track, as the same signs inform all the walks. Without GPS we would have gotten lost several times.
It was "Breathe in travel" who organized our tour: impeccable.
We didn't see a lot of cattle, and no game or "wild" animals.

The world of tourism says you have to go see "blue eye"... It's a tourist trap. You have to try to keep people one more day in Theth: frankly it's not worth the detour. Fortunately we had a jeep to go there because this part of the walk is really boring with all the passing vehicles. The walk to Blue Eye is not special and the Blue Eye is a very banal hole and moreover badly arranged. The local restaurant dirties the place with terraces of odds and ends.
There are just a bunch of people posing and taking pictures for instagram. Do not waste a day of vacation, there is more beautiful in the area.
At the beginning of the valley, there are some basins, formed by the river, which in good weather invite you to swim.
There are 16 kms of jeep and the walk is a round trip.
It's kind of like Komani lake which is another tourist trap.
Exact walking measurements: 4.96km d+ 241m d-243m
If you use this route, please rate it so we can improve.
Good walk.
