Itinerary description
Birding at Bhandup Pumping Station. It is very difficult for people to imagine that beautiful, tall, statuesque birds like Flamingos, cryptically patterned sandpipers, graceful terns, hungry gulls, and handsome harriers can be seen in the middle of our teeming metropolitan populous Mumbai. But yes, like an oasis in the desert, such a place exists on the fringes of the Eastern Express Highway, where the last of the salt pans and mangroves remain. A place of stark beauty, and grassy plains interspersed with marshy pools, filled with bird life.
Winter is a good time to visit this place to see array of birds and butterflies.
