Itinerary description
This is a circular walk of approximately 11,6 km and rather flat with one exception. Even if rather long, it will not require more than around 3 hours 45 minutes. We start from the parking lot crossing the CV745 road that runs through the village, straight up to the road that leads from the cemetery to the CV748 to Gata de Gorgos, which we shall cross and then follow another tarmac road which runs through the residential area of Mequinenza. This road takes us to the end of the urbanization and thereafter we shall continue on a narrow path that goes parallel with the mountains for 2 km. From now on we have been walking in an open landscape but now the path will continue in terrain covered by trees. The path goes through the valley, which is surrounded by Muntanya Mariola and Penyes Blanques. This path finishes close to the CV748 and we will cross it once more heading for the river.
We continue over the river and follow it for 4 km. There will be two more crossings before we reach the Muntanyeta behind Lliber. After the last crossing we will take a path which leads up the mountain. This path is rather steep and takes 15 minutes to climb. Finally we will reach the road to the cemetery again and back to Parking lot where we started.
We will cross roads with traffic several times so care must be taken.
The river might bring a lot of water in case of heavy rains close to the day of the walk which can make it difficult to cross or at least the bots might be filled with water.
Friends who also measured the length of the walk got only 9,5 km which looks more reasonable.
