If you're looking for walks, you're in Japan.
The “excessive” courtesy, such a different and remarkable cuisine, the ryokans, the onsens, the lines.
Japan, the cleanest and most structured country in the world with numerous, super clean and technologically brilliant toilets. You will never have had such clean private parts.
You have to queue at a bus stop to experience Japanese rigor. Public transportation is excellent.
Urban equipment for the blind is extremely sophisticated.
They don't seem to care about water, energy, global warming and consume a lot of plastic in all forms. We wonder if in Europe, we live on the same planet as them.
There are obviously the public baths and onsens that you will miss after the trip.
If you can, you should pay for some quality hotels, ryokans and onsens to discover this amazing Japan.
We traveled with “Au fil du Japon”, a remarkable agency.

Tazawa Walk near the Onsens
We wanted to go to Komagatake. But, too early in the season, too much snow. We fell back on the mini bamboo mountain pastures. They have to mow the “forest” of mini bamboos to ski. The views towards the lake are not bad and it must be even more beautiful when the cherry trees are celebrating. You are in the land of hot waters and onsens.
Lake which is hardly worth the trouble except for its astonishing blue color and for the Torii of Goza No Ishi. If you want to go around it on foot or by bike, the road is narrow, winding and dangerous.
We had to go to Kakunodate to take the shinkansen. A town not worth the detour unless the cherry trees are in bloom.
