Itinerary description
This is a walk around Al Hayl and you can make it a gentle walk or turn into a longer hike.
I didn’t actually start recording from my starting point but it shouldn’t be too hard to work it out. This isn’t intended so much as a trail you need to follow as one introducing you to the area.
Just before the point I started recording there was quite a bit of rubbish but all in one area. After that it was a wander through the wadi and past farms back to the road and along to the fort.
From the fort I went back down to the wadi but turned to the other side. There is currently water there. (In drier times there is just a small pool.)
When you get to the waypoint where I turned back, you can turn right and follow the track into another wadi. I think I have an earlier trail on that one.
Don’t follow my path at the waypoint as I ended up climbing over a load of rocks instead of getting up to the higher road as I’d intended. It’s quite nice and green but not a path that everyone will manage easily so you can decide. Instead you can just turn back, keep going ahead or turn right.
The Fort is open to visitors until around 4:30pm. Please consider leaving a tip for the caretaker if he shows you around.
There is an old village next to the restored fort and there are also toilets.

Please respect people’s private property by not entering farms and keep in mind that this is a more conservative part of the UAE.
