Itinerary description
You should be able to complete this walk in 5-6h, factoring in a lunch break and some rest time. This tour time does not include the visits to the London Zoo, Madame Tussauds, or the Sherlock Holmes Museum (I did not go inside). If you want to visit those destinations, plan ahead for more time.
To save time, you can skip the part of the tour beyond the bridge in Regent's Park (not much to see on the other side of the bridge) and also use public transport to get from 221B Baker Street (Sherlock Holmes Museum) to Hyde Park, as the rest of Baker Street is just a shopping street.
Difficulty: moderate, due to the length of the walk, older people not used to walking long distances might get tired. Suitable for all ages, but not for dogs or cyclists (Regent's Park, the walk's main highlight, is closed off to dogs and cyclists).
Waypoints
Saint Pancras Church
Church on the main Euston Road on our way towards Regent's Park. There's a nice little flower shop next to the church.
Supermarket 😂
You can get cheap food here 😂 for a picnic on your way to Regent's Park.
Turn right
When you see the sign in the picture, turn right to enter Regent's Park
Regent's Park entrance - St. Andrew's Gate
Here's a picture of the map of Regent's Park at the entrance.
Queen Mary's Rose Garden
A kaleidoscope of thousands of breathtaking roses, the Regent Park's Rose Garden is a feast of colors and fragrances. The highlight of the entire tour, for sure.
Regent's University
Not much to see here, but damn, I wish my university was next to a Royal Garden 😂
Jubilee Gates
More golden gates on the other side of the Rose Garden! I love this ornamental style!
Path towards Triton Fountain
No cycling and dogs allowed in Regent's Park, for some reason. The park is very well maintained, mostly by retirees who work as volunteers.
Triton and Dryads Fountain
The Triton and Dryads sculpture was donated to the Regent's Park by the wife of artist Sigismund Goetze, in his memory: https://www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/the-regents-park/things-to-see-and-do/memorials,-fountains-and-statues/triton-fountain
Restaurant
Nice place to get some food after your walk through Regent's Park, it's close to the Open Air Theater. Throughout the park, there are many places to picnic if you don't want to buy your food.
Toilet 😂
It's below "The Hub" and it's quite clean compared to other parks' public toilets I've been to.
Towards Primrose Hill
I turned back at this point, but if you continue forward, there's a high point called Primrose Hill.
Running track
Circular running track open to the public
Hyde Park entrance
Hyde Park was semi closed off to the public during my visit due to conservation work.
Wellington Arch
Our walk ends here at the Wellington Arch! 😃 There's a metro station very close by that will take you to London city center or Heathrow Airport.
