Itinerary description
Family day in Kamakura
We started by Zuisen-ji and the sky was overcast (while it was perfectly blue before we rode the train)
There the broad-leaved momiji were bright red but most of the leaves had already fallen, on the other hand all other trees were still green (including the more pervasive small-leaved momiji) and it was rather a disappointment, more so considering the 200 yen entrance fee.
Second we went to Kakuon-ji, the light was getting better and in front of the temple (and we never entered the paying area there) there was a cluster of momiji displaying their best colors. Louis was running around and it was hard to get a group picture also because it was crowded.
Before a good and inexpensive lunch we dropped by Kamakura-gu, that was relatively uninteresting compared to the rest.
We then moved to the overcrowded Tsurugaoka Hachimangu and the skies had turn to a perfect blue, yet Louis had fallen asleep. The place is huge but there is so much people that it is crowded everywhere. There were at least 3 persons around each momiji taking pictures, even saw someone using a tablet to take a shot... how crazy is that. There was also a traditional wedding ongoing in the center of the complex and crowds taking pictures of some probably rich couple.
I had in mind to go to some other place but we cut short our trip and went back to Kamakura station via extremely congested tourist roads which I despise.
