If you're looking for walks, you're in Japan.
The “excessive” courtesy, such a different and remarkable cuisine, the ryokans, the onsens, the lines.
Japan, the cleanest and most structured country in the world with numerous, super clean and technologically brilliant toilets. You will never have had such clean private parts.
You have to queue at a bus stop to experience Japanese rigor. Public transportation is excellent.
Urban equipment for the blind is extremely sophisticated.
They don't seem to care about water, energy, global warming and consume a lot of plastic in all forms. We wonder if in Europe, we live on the same planet as them.
There are obviously the public baths and onsens that you will miss after the trip.
If you can, you should pay for some quality hotels, ryokans and onsens to discover this amazing Japan.
We traveled with “Au fil du Japon”, a remarkable agency.

Takayama
A city where the sidewalks have roofs, for rain or snow? When we visited, it rained all day. This takes away a certain charm.
The old town or old street is very well preserved even if, as often, it has become a street of shops for tourists. The buildings are very beautiful and authentic. Visit early before the tourist buses arrive.
The detour to Kitayama Park is not worth it. Shiroyama Park is a forest of Japanese cedars without any views, uninteresting. Except maybe when it's hot and nice.
Each temple has its enormous bell. There are many temples, but none are among the ten most beautiful in Japan.
The two walks given are quite ordinary and in no way special. It doesn't look like much.
The walk is pleasant because the city is calm with little traffic.
