Itinerary description
Without the cable car (which closed in 2016) whichever way you ascend (scree or western trail) it involves a fair amount of effort to get up there and gain height. Once up, the views all along the ridge are amazing in all directions and the route is interesting with some dilapidated shelters along the way. It's more of a walk if you are comfortable at height (there were 2 trail runners with no VF kit who passed us) but definitely worthwhile.
We struggled to decide which way to ascend, but if you are comfortable descending scree would recommend clockwise as we were down the entire scree slope in about 20 mins, as opposed to a 2 hr slog up it if we had gone anti-clockwise.
