Itinerary description
Difficult Via Ferrata, with a couple of challenging passages.
Park at Barzio (if you park at the start of the cable car, it's 4 euro/day). From here, take the cable car (8 euro single way, 13 with return, last summer run 17:30) that will bring you to the piani di Bobbio. Follow the ski slopes, headed for Rifugio Stella and then Rifugio Lecco. Continue straight slightly keeping the right, the start of the Via Ferrata should be visibile in front of you.
The via ferrata could be crowded. This GPS tracks lost signal, but you just have the follow the chain until the top of the mountain. The first half is quite simple, with visible escape routes if necessary. The second half does not have escape routes, particularly near the end. The most difficult part will come when you will see, on the other side of a cliff, a steel ladder. Before reaching it, you will have to climb down and then climb up, with not so many foot supports.
When the Ferrata ends (keep your helmet), turn left and few meters later you will reach the top of Mt. Zuccone Campelli. Turn instead right, and you will start the return journey. You will found a couple of last chains (but not via Ferrata), then keep straight on until you will see a gully (canyon) going down to the right. Follow that path, and be extremely careful at the rocks. You will eventually reach back the route where you will see the Rigufo Lecco. From here, head back to piani di Bobbio cable car and then for your car.
