You can only go up on a toll road, in 2021 it will be 10 EUR. The Slovenian minibus mountains in the afternoon don’t really care about priority on the single-lane road, just push back from above. It takes patience to get down.
The upper car park is closed due to a stone collapse, so you can only stop lower, it is approx. 2 km plus up or also what needs to be added in time ... There are many, the upper parking spaces are full soon, so you can only stop lower and lower.
Direction signs are not out everywhere, it is not clear. where is where.
That's how we missed Via Slovenia ... and instead climbed the Mangart the normal way, which is the same AB steig, but for some reason it's not written for it.
Many write that they were on Via Italiana even though they climbed the normal route. Via Italiana is a side detour, detour, but worth it because it is beautiful and not difficult. Cave climbing, exposure. Not stronger than C.

Via Italiana is certainly one of the nicest Slovenian ferratas, and therfore highly recommended to all ferrata-lovers. While it is really not as hard as they often make it sound in tourist/climbing guides, it's not for the faint of heart either. I think that technical difficulties never go over C (possibly C-), but exposure can be somewhat dizzying at two or three places (well, one place). Actual ferrata can easily be done in good approach shoes, but the descent from the Saddle to its starting point is much safer in some sturdy hiking/mountain boots. The surrounding mountains and views are beautiful, even the car ride to the parking place at Mangart Saddle (on the highest road in Slovenia), is and experience in itself - but you should only do it in nice weather, or you'll be deprived of most of these pleasures. Also, check beforehand that the road is open, as there are often rock-slides and the authorities close the road down. I've done Via Italiana a few times and I always thoroughly enjoyed it.
