The train for children or rather... for the elderly, on a day at risk of rain, takes us from Rogaška to Olimje. The landscape, with green hills planted with corn or grass for animals, is relaxing, and the houses with balconies and gardens full of flowers are idyllic visions. We arrive at the Jelenov greben farm where a herd of fawns and mouflons await us, putting aside their fear and eating the corn from our hands.
We head towards the castle, now a monastery of the Minorites, minor friars of San Francesco. There are four left.
The Monastery consists of the baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with its magnificent organ, and then the ancient pharmacy of the Pauline Fathers who inhabited the monastery for 120 years from 1663 to 1783. The frescoes are unique and you could spend a day admiring them . Then again the tasty chocolate shop and finally the herbalist shop.
We set off again towards the brewery where it is absolutely necessary to taste the unpasteurised beer and then the train takes us back to Rogaška; taking advantage of an unexpected stop we get off the train to walk the last few kilometers, such is the desire to walk.
