The Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam Train is one of the major tourist attractions in the Outaouais region. This train, consisting of the 909 steam locomotive and the 224 diesel, serves a 64-kilometer journey since 1992. The train runs at a speed of 22 to 25 kilometers and covers the journey in two and a half hours. It allows you to admire beautiful landscapes of the region, including Gatineau Park and the Gatineau River. The starting point for the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam Train is at the station at 165 Devault Street, Gatineau. The train crosses the municipality of Chelsea to get to the village of Wakefield. In Wakefield, travelers have time to visit the old village and browse the bowels of the locomotive.

At Wakefield, a manual turntable turns the locomotive for the return. This is one of the few manual tables still in operation in North America and the maneuvers of this pivot are impressive. In fact, this train is one of the last steam trains in service in Canada.

The Wakefield Covered Bridge was built in 1915 on the outskirts of the village and was one of the first bridges to connect the two banks of the Gatineau River. Unfortunately, it was completely destroyed by fire in 1984. The village population decided to raise the necessary funds for the reconstruction of the bridge, and 10 years later, in 1998, the new Gendron covered bridge was inaugurated. The new bridge is now reserved for pedestrians only, but it has kept some original parts, including the pillars that support it.
