Itinerary description
Very nice and solitary trail.
In the begining, the trail goes alongside an old ruined water canal, flanking the valley. On that canal you can see multiple tunnels for the water just near the trail, the firs ones are walkable (if its not raining). The path in this part is nice and easy, except for some concrete points.
After this initial part, when you arrive to the river, it starts to climb up a little, but the path is still wide and easy. Shortly you arrive to a picnic area with a bit of a shelter. It's the only shelter you will find in all the trail.
From here the path continiues to climb smothly.
After some time, the path narrows and starts to more difficult, there are more plants that continiously touch your legs, and the paths start to climb more fiercly, the mudd and the plants start to meke the trail more slippery and thecnic.
The final km/miles are endless, as the speed you can advance is reduced by the dificulty of the path amd all the zig-zag curves there are.
At the end you find a stunning and impressive view of a part of the east shore of the island. It's windy and the cliffs are very high, so be carefull.
The wayback takes less time than the way up.
We needed 4:30 hours to our way up, and 3:45 on our way down.
We just found one guy on our way down, running on the begining of the trail, and one guy with a bunch of hunting dogs on our way up, who just hunted a pig. No one else.
There is no fountain, brign with you a lot of water. The final part is not shady and more exposed to sun.
The trail is long, so go with patience. You are going to spend the day. There are no alternative paths or escape routes.
Mahalo!!

Awesome trail. Be aware you will be passing through a hunting ground with feral hogs. Also there is a bit of rope assisted climbing required.
