Itinerary description
Fairly complete circular trail run. Run has excellent views of Vierwaldstattersee Zugersee Burgenstock. etc.
The path starts in Vitznau and follows the Wanderweg National Route 98 (Waldstätterweg). Once you get to Gersau, follow the greensignals "Scheidegg Weg" until Scheidegg. You will go up a steep path to Gätterlipass (restaurant-bar) and then upto Scheidegg. There I recommend (If you have not done before) to deviate 200 metres from the track and go to the Scheidegg observatory area where you can have some amazing 360 degree views (to match, if not better than those of Rigi Kulm).
The route has 3 distinct sections...
From Gersau up to Scheidegg, you will need to walk
From Scheidegg to Kaltbad the route is completely flat to gently downward sloping to perfect for running.
From Kaltbad down to Vitznau the route is uncomplicated and runnable but steep so you might not get much speed as legs brake.
Moving time was 3h40 and average speed 7.5 km-h ...
p.s. the smartphone GPS recorded incorrectly altitude around km 18 (the profile from Scheidegg to Kaltbad is flat)

Hi
a nice hike! But I think the track is not correctly recorded. At about 7.5 km the the recorded track leaves the trail it goes down from 1570 m above sea level to 850 m. It looks impossible. Because of this wrong recording the difference in altitude is with "1.567 m" far too big. And such a climb and descent in only 4 hours and 12 minutes impossible.
Thanks for any comments!

okey, I see now, you have been running and not hiking. But still, the track as it is to see on the map looks impossible.
Yes. Running but uphill from Gersau to Scheidegg is mostly a fast hike. Running in the flat section from Scheidegg to Kaltbad and from Kaltbad down to Vitznau.

Above is the profile via Schweizmobil (more accurate than the smartphone). I use middle range Samsung android and their GPS sensors fail so you can get funny readings like the "cliff" around km 18 that does not exist (highlighted in my p.s. cheers).
