Itinerary description
Quite a bit of shadow.
Some background about the Toblerones courtesy of Wikipedia
Between 1937 and 1941, in the face of the rising German threat, a concrete block anti-tank defense line , resembling dragon's teeth, was built from the shores of Lake Geneva , at the foot of the Jura , between Prangins and Bassins , via Gland , Vich and Begnins . The canton of Geneva being considered indefensible, it was sacrificed by the defense plan established by the government of the time.
More than 2,700 dragon's teeth , 9-ton concrete blocks, were erected as anti-tank obstacles over a length of some 10 kilometers, and it is their triangular shape, reminiscent of Toblerone chocolate , that gave rise to the nickname this line from the Promenthouse . The line was protected by twelve fortified points, the best known of which is the "Villa Rose", a small fort camouflaged as a house, in Gland. Maintained since then as a witness to this period, it has been transformed into a museum. Nature having remained untouched along the line for more than 60 years, it was decided to lay out a 17-kilometre footpath .
Done very slowly in 2h 5 min moving time, it can be run much faster
