Itinerary description
This is not your average running/footpath.
The map we had describes this as a partly marked walking path, which technically speaking is true however once past Hohes Egg the terrain is very steep and rocky, certainly has more of a scramble feel to it. The final 400-500m of ascent is especially difficult for an average hill walker.
Going up we ran about 25% of the height gain but that’s about 50% of the distance (roughly 500m & 8km) in about 4hrs. Coming down we ran about 80% of the whole way, just missing the top trickiest section in about 2hrs.
The top was especially tricky as we were getting statically charged but the low clouds that came in quickly......quite scary! The rest was fantastic and the run down was excellent.
