Itinerary description
This track is the 22km version of the Montagu Mountain Mania Trail Run event that was held in 2012 that starts and finishes at the Avalon Hot Water Springs Hotel and Spa. This particular route and distance is no longer part of the event, however a shorter and longer distance now exists as part of the event. Visit www.mountainmania.net for information of the new routes.
Easily completed within one day, this tracks provides an intermediate, yet challenging alternative distance to the distances on the above website. Breath-taking views and vistas abound and at the summit one can see what is known as 'Brashton': the towns of Bonnievale, Ashton and Robertson all in one view. The town of Montagu is clearly seen below too.
Bring plenty of drinking water, sunscreen and warm clothing as the weather on top can change rapidly. Stay on the path at all times.
