Itinerary description

DO NOT RUN THIS LINE AS YOU WILL BREAK AN ANKLE!

Here's a trail I ran for historic research that follows the historic train line from Bethania to Logan Village. Big news was announced recently that the Govt was going to build a new $7M 10.5km Rail Trail between these two points, so I thought let's check out what it currently is like, and compare to what it will be like when completed.

Currently, the old train line stops at the Bethania side of Bolton Clarke Talbarra, Waterford - Retirement Living and Residential Aged Care which is fully fenced off. The trail then picks up again from Bow St, Waterford.

I was able to trail run all the way from Bethania Train Station to the retirement community, then I had to skirt around until I came to Bow St. And from here I was able to track run it all the way to the old historic train platform at Logan Village.

I really enjoyed this track run, it had about 5-6 large bridge crossings - I don't recommend going over these presently as they are rotting and pose a risk. The line is runnable however there a many segments that are overgrown, or have tree falls. The line runs behind numerous properties, or past horses, cows, across some streets... and I loved every second of it.

So looking forward to the newly planned Bethania - Logan Village Rail Trail, which then continues onward for 3.5kms to Yarrabilba.

The retirement residents at Bolton Clarke are up in arms over the the proposed track that will cut through a section of their community, so will be interesting to see how negotiations will play out.
