Itinerary description

A trail created for guests looking for a short trail run inside the Hotel property. It's also a great walk that takes you past all 5 of our dams.

Whilst it's just 3.5km in distance, your heart rate will rise pretty significantly on The Thumper, as you work your way up to Duiker Dam.

Starting in the main parking lot, you head down and around the self-catering chalets, and around the first dam. Once you pass the dam, stay slightly right, keeping the Chapel on your left. The trail leads you back towards the Hotel grass field below the Helicopter landing pad.

Once you're back in the grass field, keep the wooden fence on your right, and cross the little bridge to the second dam of the trail. Follow the path down the steps and across the bridge, with the 3rd dam now on your left. Stick to the path as it takes you to the bottom of Mike's Path, and take a hard right before the bridge going up to Mike's Path. You'll then cross a small bridge and see the 4th dam of the trail.

Run anti-clockwise around the dam, and once you're almost all the way around, heading up a small hill, look for the entrance to 'The Thumper' (path that leads up to Duiker Dam).

The Thumper is the steepest part of the trail, and running it will be for the fittest amongst us. Even if you walk it, your heart rate is going to race. At the top of The Thumper, walk to a T-Junction in the trail, taking a left, and up to Duiker Dam. Follow the trail clockwise around Duiker Dam, and once you're on the other side, use the normal path back to the Hotel from Duiker Dam (during rainy seasons there is a small stream that runs on the path).

You'll then join up with the Forest Road, taking you back to the Hotel. When you get to the Hotel, stay on the Forest Road until you get to the Main Driveway of the Hotel. Take a right down to the boom gate, and left onto the road. Take a left onto the exit driveway, and up past the Horses on your right. When you get to the gate, slip through the wooden fence, and up to the tree in the parking lot you started at.

Look out for direction signs along the trail
